SEC Announces Major Changes To Crowdfunding

December 14, 2020

On Monday, November 2 SEC decided to raise the offering limit in Regulation Crowdfunding from $1.07 million to $5 million;

A major milestone for tech startups raising money, as the $1.07m often is too low to cover the capital needs of a fast-growing startup.

Other critical changes included amending the investment limits for investors in Regulation Crowdfunding offerings by removing investment limits for accredited investors.

This allows larger investors including VCs participating in Crowdfunding rounds. Further, investment vehicles will be allowed, to pool investor money into a single entity on the cap table.
